Mr. C ……….

Thursday, May 15th, 2008

I’ve known Mr. C’s mom my entire life, no joke. We were neighbors growing up. Our mom’s were pregnant at the same time. Mariah was born 3 days before me. And boy did she hold that over me for awhile. For example, she turned 16 first, 18 first, 19 first, then 21 first. But now I get to enjoy that she turned 3o first, LOL!

Anyways, Mariah and I have much in common (beside late October b-days). We are both the oldest, we have the same wedding anniversary (though mine was like 7 years before hers, lol), we both love Jimmy Buffett, we’re both teachers, we’re both the oldest sibling, and finally we are both moms. Mr. C brought one more common connection to us.

I’ve said before that I’ve had the perfect newborn, but C really was content to let me do anything. The only problem was this was a newborn session unlike ANY other! First my mom and Madeline were there, grandma was there, there were not 1, not 2 but 4 yorkies running around. I’ve never shot a session in front of such a crowd, LOL! Add into that the RAIN. It was dark and rainy but we did our best.

Despite the hoopla and circus that was going on, I did manage to get some sweet images of Mr. C. Mariah welcome to motherhood. As any mom will tell you, it’s one of the most amazing journeys you will ever take!

Mr. N, the boy who wouldn’t sleep

Monday, April 7th, 2008

I love newborns. They are so tiny and fresh. They are also unpredictable, LOL! I recently got the chance to photograph N. N was like MANY of the newborns I photograph. He decided to stay awake for several hours, LOL! I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again….newborns will always do the opposite of what the parent wants. For those that want awake shots, they will sleep and vice versa.

N was nice though…he did give us a few moments of sleep which allowed me to capture some beautiful images. N’s nursery was stunning! And when I saw this dresser and wall hanging, I knew I needed a photo there! I also tried a bit different processing on this image, because the dresser screamed vintage/shabby chic!

N, I can’t wait to see you again in a few months, and photograph your spunky (and cute) big sister S.
