Fall Mini Sessions ~ Ann Arbor and Northville Child Photographer

I can’t believe I’m already looking at booking fall mini sessions. Believe it or not, I’ve already been contacted by several people to schedule them! So I expect these to fill fast! I will be offering a round of mini sessions in September and October. My September mini sessions will take place in Ann Arbor, my October in Northville at Mill Race.

September Mini Sessions

September 19th
Ann Arbor – Law Quad or Graffiti Alley option
Cost – $100
Includes a 20 minute photo session. Please no clothing changes. Siblings may need to book back to back sessions if more images are desired. You will be guaranteed 12 images to chose from (more may be included).

October Mini Sessions

October 17th
Mill Race Village – Northville
Cost – $100
Includes a 20 minute photo session. Please no clothing changes. Siblings may need to book back to back sessions if more images are desired. You will be guaranteed 12 images to chose from (more may be included).

A Change or Two – Matilda Jane Trunk Show –

Hey girls…..

If you haven’t been stalking Denise’s site like I have, you may not have known that the first release of Field Trip is online. There will actually be two releases this fall. And I fell in love with BOTH of them. That said, I decided to book a secondary trunk show for th 2nd release, and switch my 1st release trunk show to a virtual.

Is your head spinning? What these means is my in home show for August 13th is now cancelled. In it’s place I will now be hosting a “virtual” opening day show! Which means no worries about sell outs! All you have to do is send our wonderful trunk keeper Alison an email or drop her a call between now and Friday (August 6th) at 11am, and you’re set! So email me or comment below if you need her information!

My 2nd release show will be held at my house on September 3rd from 4-7pm. Email me or comment below for more info And just as a teaser, some more MJ eye candy!

Hey girls….sad to say, but back to school shopping is nearly upon us. And trust me, as a teacher and now mom to a soon to be kindergartener, I’d like to hold off the BTS shopping as much as possible. That said, the only good thing about BTS shopping is MATILDA JANE’s Fall line! Woooo!

It seems I blinked and we’re already half way through July. Where did June go? I had 2 concerts (NKOTB and Jimmy Buffett), shot my first wedding, finished the school year and visited with old friends. Then July snuck up on me and I found myself in Atlantic City celebrating my sister’s bachelorette party and hosting my 3rd “I Shot Someone in Detroit” workshop. And here we are.

I’ve got lots to announce over the next few days, and lots to share, so keep checking the blog and the facebook page.

First up……………..

Lil Sweet Pea Photography made it into the final round in the Nickelodeon Parent’s Pick for best photographer in Detroit. So I thank you for all the votes to get there. Now I need your help in the final round! You can vote daily (I know, daily….ugh!). I appreciate any votes you can send my way.

The Matilda Jane Cover Girls ~ Northville Children’s Photographer

Last month (gosh nearly a month already), I hosted a Matilda Jane Trunk Show at my house. Matilda Jane was running a promo looking for their next cover girl. I’m not sure who had more fun, the moms or the little girls playing dress up! As if you don’t all know, I love Matilda Jane. I’m hoping to host a show for the fall line, so check back on the blog, or the facebook page. Yes, anyone who knows Matilda Jane knows it’s late in the MJ Spring Season. BUT Matilda Jane just released an offer I could not walk away from! And I’m so excited to invite all my clients to attend as well. Matilda Jane is looking for a new Matilda Jane girl to model for the fall line, Ekkkkk! How exciting is that?

Mr. J turns 1 ~ Birmingham Children’s Photographer

How fast a year goes! A year ago I photographed J’s newborn photos. He was fresh, and well, I was the size of a house still pregnant with Brady. A year later I get to photograph J again, and he has turned into such the sweet little boy. Now as a mom of a son (and a daughter) I of course think my little guy is the cutest, but J gives Brady a run for his money! I absolutely love the outfit mom chose (shhhh, I’m thinking of stealing the idea for Brady’s photos), and I love the location of the house she chose. Of course J’s session was the one day that it was not only cold, but also gloomy and raining. Isn’t that how it always works?

So Happy 1st Birthday J! I hope to see you again in the fall, when you’ll be bigger and I’m sure even cuter!

Gosh, they say going from 1 to 2 kids is hard. Its not so much that it’s hard, it’s more that you lose any “me” time you once had!!! I’m still trying to figure out the balance between it all. So here I am taking full advantage of naptime

I photographed C back in January as part of my Valentine’s minis. I couldn’t share these photos back then, well because C’s mommy was very sneaky and did this session as a surprise for daddy and the family. I’m impressed E was able to pull it off.

So it may be late, but here’s some belated Valentine’s Day cuteness!

Snap Happy Workshop

I’ve been asked numerous times, when will I host a workshop for those with a camera that don’t want to be in business. With the drop in the price of entry level DSLR’s so many people today own one, and many of those same people never exit “auto” mode.

So I’ve decided to take the leap into hosting two workshops for those looking to learn more. On February 20th, I will be hosting a workshop on DSLR (or SLR) camera basics at the studio in Detroit, from 11am-3pm. Learn how to exit “auto” mode and venture into other camera settings including full manual.

What’s included in the workshop:

* Getting to know how your camera works (ISO, Shutter Speed, Aperture, etc.)
* Natural light and how to use it
* Hands on & Interactive (so bring your camera!)
* Lunch (lunch will be provided!)
* a copy of Bryan Peterson’s Understanding Exposure

What to bring:

* A positive attitude
* YOUR CAMERA (It would also be helpful if you could bring your camera manual to refer to if necessary)
* Your laptop or a notebook to take notes
* Your Questions

What’s the cost?:

* $150 early bird registration – register by Jan 31st.
* $25 off your registration if you bring a friend.
* $175 if you register after Jan 31st.

A minimum of 4 participants is needed for this workshop. A maximum of 10 students will be allowed.

Note – This is not for professional photographers, but for moms & dads that want to get the most out of their DSLR cameras. Business aspects such as vendors and pricing will not be discussed.

About Me: Many people do not know, I originally attended the University of Michigan School of Art. In addition to coursework there, I taught black and white film photography and darkroom at Rochester High School.
