First and foremost, Happy New Year.  I’ve been swampped in the land of client orders, and holiday planning for what seems like 2 months.  Add in the fact we hosted 5 versions of Christmas, as well as a baptism over the holidays, and you may understand the lack of posting on here for awhile.

2010 is here and with that comes lots of new plans and ideas in my head.  First of all…..VALENTINE’S DAY Mini Sessions!  I’ve wanted to do these for the past few years, and I’m now finally able to offer them!  Look back soon for a workshop offer for YOU!  Yes, that’s right,  a workshop for my clients…time to learn how to use that new (or old) dSLR (or regular SLR)!

I will be offering Valentine’s Day Mini Sessions at the studio in Detroit on January 17th. For $95 you’ll get a 20 minute sessions with 8 proofs promised in an online private gallery for your viewing. The session will also include your choice of 48 – 2.75″x4″ “class cards” or 24 – 4″x5.5″ flat cards. The class cards are a very cute alternative to the traditional store bought valentines your child usually passes out. Tape a heart shaped sucker on the back, and you’re good to go.  Sessions will be available from 10:30am-3:30pm.

If you remember this fall, my childhood dreams came true when I met New Kids on the Block and then scored front row seats for the concert Well tomorrow I’m going to meet them again. WOOOO! (Yes, I’m aware, I’m a dork).

My favorite New Kid is doing a book drive this summer in an effort to provide children’s books to under privileged kids. They are collecting books at the concert, but also donations online. Last summer I did a charity promotion donating portions of my summer sales to the 3 Day Walk (donating over $150). This summer I’m going to donate to First Book via Joe’s Charity “Let’s Get This”.

I’ve teased about a summer studio promotion with a discounted session fee.  Well let’s do this!  In July and August, I will offer mini sessions at the studio in Detroit (Russell Industrial Center), not only at a discounted rate ($60), I will also donate $10 from every session booked to the Let’s Get this Foundation (an equivilent of 5 books per session booked).

Introducing Brady Allan, born May 21st at 8:04am. Tipping the scales at 9lbs 1oz (just 7 oz lighter then his sister, though 2 weeks earlier) and 20.75″ long.

Recovery has been a challenge as I’ve been in and out of the hospital. I think we’ve finally figured it out (high blood pressure). So please anyone contacting me or needing items, bare with me as we work through all of this.

You’d think I’d have a slew of images. But truth be told, I’ve felt so sick I have few But those I do have I cherish.

So the countdown is on. In 6 days, brother boy, as he has been named by Mads, will be here. So what does one do while waiting? Well of course a photo session with their most favorite subject

Mads and I waddled out today (well I waddled, she ran) to do a belated 4 year old session. Since I wasn’t up to traveling very far, the old stand by of Mill Race was used. And of course I had to dress her in some Matilda Jane   Who by the way is having an online art fair this weekend!

For those clients waiting and wanting to book summer sessions,  I am unavailable ALL of June!  June will be my official maternity leave, but it’ll also be jammed packed w/ other events (NKOTB BABY!).  Starting in late June, I will begin contacting those baby plan clients that are waiting on sessions.  After that, the calendar will slowly open to the general public.  I will say, I plan on hosting a studio blowout event with EXTREME discount sessions (talking $50 people) to celebrate my studio’s opening (yes, it’s been open, but I haven’t been shooting).   So look for information on that to follow!

Now without anymore waiting….My Princess

Yes, I’ve now known for nearly a month what Baby Porter version 2.0. It’s amazing how fast time can get away from you. Those of my clients on facebook were able to get the announcement already (which reminds me, I need to add that info here). Baby Porter 2.0 was not shy in showing us what HE has. Yes, that’s right, we’re expecting a boy.

Those of you that know my Matilda Jane obsession can understand my intial disappointment that I only get one little princess.  But the shock is wearing off and I’m accepting that instead of another princess, I’ve got the next great U of M hockey player from Northville.  (For those rusty on their UM Hockey players, Kevin Porter of Northville, no relation, won the Hobey Baker last year – Hockey’s version of the Heisman).  But enough of that tangent.

I’m happy to report my client forms are now online.  You will be able to fill out all that session paperwork online now.  It’s my attempt to go green
